David Adeleke, best known by his stage as Davido, is a well-known artist from Nigeria who has stated that he does not believe the general election of 2023 was fair.
The singer of “Dami Duro” made this statement during a Friday interview with Beat 99.9FM in Lagos.
After the passing of his son Ifeanyi, Davido took a break from social media. But, he claims that had he been online, he would have expressed his opinions on the elections strongly.
On Friday, the Afrobeat star released his eagerly anticipated album, “Timeless.”
He said, “I’m happy that people were not really coming out. You know if I was online, I would have been really vocal about it (the election). I have always been vocal about it. “But, I mean, I was happy about it. That’s just being honest.”

Finally, we are here again. The transition from my previous album to this record has been, to put it mildly, chaotic.
“It’s what it is! But I personally don’t feel like that was really a credible election. You know what I’m saying? I feel like the most important thing is the safety of life of everybody. But in all, that wasn’t it. So, I don’t think I will be able to hide that. I can’t hide that,” Davido added.
Finally, we are here again. The transition from my previous album to this one has been, to put it mildly, a whirlwind,” Davido stated on Twitter when introducing the album.
After dropping, Davido’s song “Timeless” received one million streams in just six hours.
But I must admit, I was delighted. Simply being honest, that.
