Davido’s ‘Timeless’ Makes History: First African Album to Top US ITunes Chart

With the release of his latest album, “Timeless,” Afrobeats musician David Adeleke (better known as Davido) has broken an African record on the US iTunes Albums Chart.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the album peaked at the top of the charts, becoming the first African album to do so in the greatest music market in the world.

On March 31, 2023, Nigerian artists Asake, Fave, The Cavemen, DMW’s newest additions Morravey and Logos Olori, Grammy-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, British rapper Skepta, South African music producer/DJ Musa Keys, Jamaican dancehall/reggae singer Dexta Daps, and South African rapper Focalistic made guest appearances on Davido’s fourth studio album, “Timeless.”

The 17-track album has now gained popularity on a variety of music streaming services, with global streaming juggernaut Spotify declaring it to be the most streamed album in the UK, Canada, France, and Nigeria.

It also set a record for the most Apple Music first-day streams ever for an African album.
