Two suspected robbers were detained by the police in Ekiti State after they entered the state from Delta State, where they had been committing their horrific acts.

According to the Ekiti State Police Command’s Anti-Vehicle Theft Section’s Dare Ogundare, the two suspects were found with a minibus that had allegedly been stolen from Delta State.
Asimiyu and Oyewunmi were apprehended in Ado Ekiti as a result of a tip-off, according to a statement from the police commissioner on Thursday issued by the police public relations officer, Sunday Abutu, and titled, “Ekiti State police operatives arrest two suspected robbers, recovers stolen vehicle.”
Research showed that one of the suspects, Asimiyu, had several police kits and accessories in his possession and had been impersonating a police officer in Delta State”.
According to the police chief, on March 31, 2023, the AVTS of the Ekiti State Police Command received a reliable tip that two suspected robbers had been seen in the Agric-Olope neighborhood of Ado Ekiti driving a Suzuki minibus known as the Akoto.
As soon as they had the information, the AVTS agents mobilized to the scene and detained Asimiyu and Oyewunmi.
“It was discovered throughout the inquiry that the two suspects were from Delta State, where they had been committing their crimes.
“They had intended to carry out their wicked atrocities in Ekiti State while they were there. It was also found out that the bus that was discovered with them had been reported as stolen by the Delta State Police Command.
The commissioner praised the support and cooperation of the general people for helping law enforcement make the arrests by providing reliable and timely information. He added that the suspects would be turned over to the Delta State Police Command for further investigation.
The citizens of Ekiti were urged by Ogundare, however, “to be security vigilant and report any suspicious person or group of persons spotted in their surrounds to the nearest police station for necessary steps.”
