In the 20 local government areas of Lagos State, the National Directorate of Employment, or NDE, on behalf of the federal government, started registering unemployed people yesterday.
The exercise would take place at the directorate’s office at 7, Barikisu Iyede Street, Onike, Yaba, and the 20 local government areas in the state, according to the NDE state office in Lagos, which made the announcement about the development.
In a statement, the coordinator of the Lagos State NDE office, Ms. Serena Edward, stated that “The Lagos State Office of NDE has started the registration of unemployed persons in the state’s 20 local government areas.”
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria established the NDE in 1986 to combat widespread unemployment and to lessen the demand for white-collar jobs that are insufficient for the voluminous number of graduates produced each year.
“State registration officially began on Monday, April 17, and will last until April 28, 2023. The NDE state headquarters at 7 Barikisu Iyede Street Onike Yaba and the state’s 20 local government units will both host the registration process.
“I urge all unemployed residents of Lagos State to utilize this chance to register with their allocated local governments in order to take advantage of the program since the federal government wants to have the full data of the unemployed persons in the country to make adequate plans for them.”
