Similanayi Fubara, a candidate for governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been proclaimed the victor of the Rivers State governorship election.

The All Progressives Party (APC) governorship candidate, Pastor Tonye Cole, came in second with a total of 95,274 votes, according to the Returning Officer, who announced the results in Port Harcourt on Monday night. Fubara received 302,614 votes, he added, while Cole received only 95,274 votes.

RIVER

With a total of 46,981 votes, Senator Magnus Abe of the SDP finished third in the race for governor.

The PDP candidate for governor, Governor Nyesom Wike’s chosen successor, won in each of the state’s 23 local government areas.
