Even though he declined a new contract offer, David de Gea has expressed his “passion” for Manchester United.
The senior goalkeeper has six months left on his current contract, but he turned down United’s initial offer to extend it.
De Gea, who earns £375,000 a week at the moment, is urged to take a pay cut. Although the Spaniard is willing to accept a pay cut, he still wants a better deal than what United has put out.
De Gea said to Sky Sports in the meantime: “I’ve been here for a very long time, loving every second in this club and playing many games.
It’s amazing to be here, there’s a big club I love, and I’m extremely glad to be here, of course.
“It’s been the same for years; there is a lot of commotion around the club, but players just concentrate on games, especially the one we have on Sunday, which is a crucial game for us because we want to finish in the top four.
“As I said, we have a ton of games, so I believe we have to be really, really concerned about training, recovering well, and helping the team, and that’s the most important thing, more than contracts or anything,”
