Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, has stated that his administration is increasing its investment in cocoa production to increase non-Oil export for both domestic and foreign markets.

According to Akeredolu, agriculture has traditionally been the backbone of the economy until the government turned its back on it when oil drilling began.

The acting governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, spoke on his behalf and said that the government will fully use the sector’s potential to strengthen the state’s economy and foster business-friendly conditions for regional farmers and exporters.

The governor pledged to expedite the state’s deep sea port project to make the exportation of goods other than oil easier as he spoke to investors in the non-oil export industry in Akure, the state capital.
