A man named Philibus Ibrahim has been detained by the police in Kano State on suspicion of killing his pregnant girlfriend Theresa Yakubu, 22.
Ibrahim, who committed the crime in the state’s Tudun Wada Local Government Area (LGA), and his accomplice Gabriel Bila, both residents of Unguwar Korau Tudun-Wada LGA, were both taken into custody.

On Tuesday in Kano, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) received confirmation of the arrest from Mr. Mamman Dauda, the state’s commissioner of police.
Dauda claims that on April 2 at around 4:30 p.m., we received word from a kind stranger that a woman had been discovered unconscious by the side of Kano-Jos Road in Anadaria Village.
The victim was transferred to Tiga General Hospital, where a doctor verified her death after a team of police officers responded to the call.
The investigation, however, showed that on March 27, at around 6:00 p.m., the victim left Nassarawan Kuki and traveled to Yantomo Village in the Garin Babba LGA of Kano.

“Over the course of the inquiry, the main suspect was apprehended and admitted to perpetrating the crime by strangling the victim with her veil.
When the investigation was over, the suspects would be charged in court, according to Dauda. (NAN)
