The pay of government officials in the mainstream public service would increase by 20%, according to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State.

The State Universal Basic Education Board, local council development areas, and local government areas would all gain from the new structure once it goes into force on January 1, 2023.

Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the head of service for Lagos State, revealed this in a statement on Monday.

“Moreover, pls notice that the arrears for the months of January and February 2023 will be paid together with the months of April and March, respectively,” the notification continued.

“This move shows how dedicated the administration is to personnel welfare. Governmental employees are urged to demonstrate greater dedication and commitment in providing the state’s inhabitants with high-quality services.

As a result, all accounting officers are required to take note of the information in this circular and spread the word about it across the service.

Lagos Sevice

The employees of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Areas, and Local Council Development Areas are among them.

Beginning on January 1st, 2023, the new pay system will be in place. Additionally, the arrears for January 2023 will be paid along with the payments for March 2023, while the arrears for February 2023 will be paid along with the salaries for April 2023.

In a circular dated March 20, 2023, the state’s Head of Service, HoS, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, disclosed the salary plan’s implementation.

Lagos Service

A portion of the circular stated: “This is to notify for general information that Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in his determination to improve the welfare and wellbeing of public servants in Lagos State has graciously approved an increase in Salaries for Officers in the Mainstream Public Service, Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas as well as the State Universal Basic Education Board by 20% with effect from January 1, 2023.

Please take note that the arrears for January 2023 will be paid along with the salaries for March 2023, and the arrears for February 2023 will be paid along with the payments for April 2023.

“This measure shows the Administration’s dedication to staff welfare even more. Hence, public employees are urged to demonstrate greater dedication and commitment in providing the state’s inhabitants with high-quality service.

As a result, all accounting officers are required to take note of the information in this circular and spread the word about it across the service.

Sanwo-Olu had been declared the victor of the state’s governorship election on Saturday in the early hours of Monday.

Olajide Adediran, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received 62,449 votes, while Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a candidate for the Labour Party, received 312,329 votes. The governor, who was the APC’s candidate, received 762,134 votes.
