Speaker from Kwara urges journalists to adhere to professionalism strictly

Engr. Yakubu Salihu-Danladi, the speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, urged journalists nationwide on Wednesday to maintain professionalism in their reporting.

He made the statement as he accepted a gift from the State House of Assembly Press Corp as a gesture of congratulations for his victory in the recently held general elections in the State.

The media, according to Salihu-Danladi, is important for maintaining political stability and serving as a conduit between the populace and the government.

He promised to address any observed gray spots in the 10th Assembly when it is officially inaugurated and assured the populace that quality legislation was in place to improve their well-being.

The speaker was praised earlier by Mr. AbdulRazaq Bello, the chairman of the Kwara State House of Assembly Press Corp, for not disappointing the youth constituency as a successful young politician.

Bello clarified that the House of Assembly Press Corp’s souvenir was intended to congratulate and show appreciation to the Speaker for his re-election and successful management of the House’s business.

Comrade AbdulLateef Ahmed, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) council for Kwara State, praised the House for fostering a cordial working relationship between the legislative and executive branches of government in his remarks.
