The federal government has criticized several Western nations for endorsing the terrorist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, issued the warning in Washington, DC, during official meetings with a few international media outlets and policy organizations.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the minister is in Washington to discuss the recently concluded 2023 elections with foreign media outlets and think tanks.
“The Nigerian government has designated IPOB as a terrorist organization, yet certain Western nations have been harboring and cooperating with the unlawful organization.
The minister continued, “They permit them to raise money, some permit them to lobby their Congressmen and legislators, and whatever fund they realize they utilize it to destabilize the country.”
According to Mr. Mohammed, it is disingenuous for the West to pretend it is battling terrorism while secretly aiding a terrorist group.
The minister also took advantage of the exchanges to urge the international media to refrain from reposting online urban legends about Nigeria’s 2023 elections on their platforms.
He advised people to be skeptical and question the data they see on social media before posting about it on their platforms.
