Oba Adetoyese Olakisan, a well-known traditionalist based in Imesi-Ile, Osun State, along with two other persons, perished in a car accident that happened on the Ila/Edemonsi/Imesi-Ile Road.

According to reports, the driver of the car traveling from Ila to Imesi-Ile on April 3, 2023, was Olakisan, also known as Oba Ogboni Agbaye, the officer in command of the Imesi-Ile police post, and one other passenger, who was reportedly a woman.
According to family sources who spoke to the Punch, the trio was dispatched on a rescue operation to save Olakisan’s wives from alleged kidnappers.
The source said that a group of armed men stormed Olakisan’s home early on Monday and kidnapped two of his wives.
According to information obtained from the search party that pursued the kidnappers, a suspect was apprehended. Using the information provided by the suspect, Olakisan, the arrested police officer, and a woman pursued the kidnappers in the direction of Ila but were involved in an accident on their way back to Imesi-Ile.

Yemisi Opalola, a spokeswoman for the Osun Police Command, confirmed that the women had been kidnapped by gunmen and said that search and rescue efforts had already started.
“The Ogboni chief, Police OC Imesi-Ile, and a woman were in his (Olakisan’s) car returning to Imesi after arriving in Ila, looking for his wife who had been kidnapped when they were in an accident. The car collided with a tree. There was just one accident. They were taken to a hospital right away, but they all passed away. To continue the search and rescue effort, our troops are in the forest.
