Victor Osimhen will look to record his 50th goal for Napoli when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League second leg last-16 clash on Wednesday.

It will also be his 90th game for the club since joining from Lille in 2020 for a club record sum of €80 million. Since then, the Nigerian has scored 49 goals and made 14 assists in 89 Partenopei outings across all events.

Victor Osimhen, who is anticipated to spearhead Napoli’s campaign to reach the last eight for the first time in their history, believes Napoli can win the Champions League.

Since Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in the 2009/10 season, no Italian team has won the Champions League, and none has reached the final since Juventus in 2017.

But, Victor Osimhen, who has scored twice in four competitive games this season, believes Napoli can reverse the trend.

“I believe we can win the Champions League this season,” Osimhen told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I believe this is a magical season in which there are no limits to what a squad may do.

“Are you familiar with Leicester City? They pushed for European qualification at one point, but everyone realized that they could actually win the league. And in the end, they triumphed. It’s possible that Napoli will be the same.”

The Nigerian striker has been superb alongside Napoli teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during a season in which Napoli appears to be on the verge of ending their 33-year wait for the Scudetto with 12 games remaining.

This season, the striker has 19 Serie A goals, while Kvaratskhelia has 11.

Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, spoke to Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday about the Napoli offensive combo.

“Kvaratskhelia is a fantastic player; he works well with Victor Osimhen; they are really efficient.”

The former AC Milan coach hailed the performance of Italian clubs in the Champions League this season.

“Italian clubs are doing well in the Champions League,” he stated. There might be three clubs in the quarter-finals, sending a powerful message to Europe.”
