Since 1999, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has ceased manual results confirmation for the West African Senior School Certificate Exams (WASSCE) and has instead introduced a digital platform.
Candidates can view, download, and share their actual WAEC certificates using the portal, and institutions and organizations can quickly and securely authenticate the authenticity of applicants’ certificates.

Candidates can also retrieve burned, lost, or damaged certificates online thanks to the digital certificate platform, which was introduced in October 2022.
Patrick Areghan, the head of the Nigerian WAEC national office, stated that the portal’s development was done to ensure easy and quick confirmation of results as well as to “eliminate fraud and send fakers out of the market.”

The platform’s mobile version may be downloaded from the Android and iOS app stores, and it can be viewed online at www.waec.org.
Email addresses are required from institutions, organizations, agencies, embassies, high commissions, etc. for the digital sharing, receiving, and certificate verification process.
