Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State charged the PDP’s leadership on Wednesday with wasting N12.5 billion in party finances in just two months.
At the opening of internal roads in Rumuigbo, the state’s Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Wike made the accusation.
He emphasized that under the new leadership, PDP would once again be a force to be reckoned with.
The governor claimed, “I think we need strong leadership. I am unable to support those whose main goal is to accumulate wealth.
“I can’t support candidates where we held congresses, raised around N12.5 billion, and the funds were gone after two months.
“Someone built an institution during his one year in office. I won’t back that.
We think the new leadership will make PDP stronger because of this.
“I owe no one an apology. We will win this fight, as I have previously stated, as it will be our last.

Wike boasted that the idea of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) pursuing him when his term as governor expires doesn’t frighten him because he has nothing to hide and that the countless projects he has completed are proof of how responsibly he has used the state’s resources.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State opened the project and praised Wike for completing additional projects for the Rivers people.
Bala credited his Rivers counterpart’s success to his dedication to the common good rather than just the wealth at his disposal good of Rivers people.
